The 3rd St. Farm Store

The 3rd St. Farm Store stands on the corner of 3rd St. and Poke Bayou. It is a simple white building that hasn’t even ever heard of a renovation.
It is a modest container from the outside - and inside it is filled with wonders.... and farm supplies.
It is a place where, if you go with your mom who grew up in this town, you could spend hours roaming up and down its aisles while the old folks chew the fat.
Rows of fertilizer sacks, farming tools, everything one might need for a farm or a garden, of which I had neither.
There, amid sacks of seeds and cans of paint, I came across a collection of stoneware that could have been in a NYC showroom.
Its simplicity and its elegance struck me and I wondered what this stoneware was doing in this haphazard display of farming supplies.
This was the sort of ’wonder’ you could find at the 3rd St. Farm Store.
This was this sort of wonder waiting around forgotten corners, in small southern towns.
