Communitas: The Feminist Art of Community Building: Source; The Spirits of the Air, Fire, Water and Earth
Created in the gallery of Cal-State University at Northridge, Northridge, CA, I curated and collaborated with artists Jill D’Agnenica, Rosalie Ortega and Colleen Kelley to produce an installation about community and spirituality. A room within a room, a space to contemplate the four elements and be quiet. An interior corner was chosen by each of the four artist to personify an element - earth, fire, air and water. The floor was covered in black wax and a pillow for sitting in meditation was provided near the east corner. The outside walls of the room were covered in poetry by Starr Goode and . Expanding Circles! Women, Art and Community was edited by the exhibition curators, Dr. Betty Ann Brown and Dr. Beth Say for which I wrote a chapter. Available on Amazon
